Tires and the VSSI
Tire condition is part of the Vehicle Safety Systems Inspection: tread depth is measured, tires on an axle have to match, and a temporary spare can’t be on the car during the inspection. If you’re bringing in a salvage-title vehicle, worn or mismatched tires are one of the common reasons for a first-pass fail. See the VSSI page.
Tires and brakes together
Uneven pad wear and uneven tire wear often point at the same thing. If the car is in for a brake inspection, the wheels are already off, so when the tire setup allows it we rotate the tires at no additional charge. Need your tire pressures checked? Stop in and we’ll check them.
Tire repair questions
Can every flat be repaired?
No. Punctures in the sidewall or shoulder, or damage that has separated the tire internally, mean a new tire. We show you the tire and explain either way.
Do you sell tires?
Yes. Tell us the vehicle and we quote tires by size and brand before ordering, then mount and balance them here.
How much do new tires cost?
Sets of four for many common passenger-vehicle sizes start around $400. Exact price depends on tire size, brand, load and speed rating, vehicle and availability, and larger trucks, performance and uncommon sizes are quoted separately. We quote the exact tire before ordering.
Do you rotate tires?
Yes. And if your vehicle is in for a $75 brake inspection, the wheels are already off, so when the tire setup allows it we rotate them at no additional charge.
Can I bring my own tires?
No. We supply the tires and parts we install so we can stand behind the work.
