Usually the starter or a bad connection. Sometimes a battery with a dead cell that still reads charged.

Rapid clicking, slow crank
Usually a weak battery, or an alternator that isn't recharging it. A jump that works and then dies again points at the alternator.

Why we test before we replace
Starters, alternators and batteries fail in ways that imitate each other, and the wrong part is an expensive guess. We load-test the battery, check what the alternator is putting out at idle and under load, check the belt and tensioner, and check the starter draw and its connections. Then you get the findings, and if you want the repair done here we prepare an estimate from them.
A no-start with a check engine light or other warning lights on can be a sensor or wiring issue rather than the starter. That’s a job for a full diagnostic.
