We start with a performance test: vent temperature, pressures on both sides of the system, and whether the compressor engages. If the system is low we add dye or use an electronic sniffer to find where it’s leaking. You get the findings. If you’d like us to do the repair, we prepare an estimate based on what we found, with the recharge included, and the $175 diagnostic is credited toward it. Nothing is done without your OK.

R1234yf is far more expensive per ounce and needs its own recovery equipment, which is why the service price is higher. We service both.

If the fan is fine but the engine runs hot with the A/C on, that’s usually the cooling system, not the A/C. A warning light along with the A/C fault is a job for a full diagnostic.

How much is an A/C recharge?
The A/C diagnostic is $175 and it's credited toward the repair. The recharge service is $135 plus refrigerant at $2.20 per ounce (most cars take 10 or more ounces). Vehicles on R1234yf, most 2021 and newer, are $370 plus refrigerant because the equipment and the gas cost far more.
Can you just top it off?
A sealed A/C system never needs topping off. If it's low, refrigerant is escaping, and a top-off buys you a few weeks. Finding the leak first means you fix it once. That's why we start with the diagnostic.
How long does it take?
The diagnostic usually takes under an hour. R134a service is 30 to 45 minutes. R1234yf takes about 3 hours. Most A/C repairs are done the same day; if a compressor or condenser has to be ordered, we tell you before we start.
Do you fix compressors?
Yes. Compressors, condensers, evaporators, lines and the electrical side. You see what we found first, and if you want the repair done here we prepare an estimate before any work starts.
Is there a free A/C check?
No. The A/C diagnostic is $175, and it's credited toward the repair if you have us do the work. That's the test that actually finds the leak or the failed part, which a quick pressure check can't do.
