Do I need an appointment for a smog check?
No. Walk in any time we're open. Most tests take about 20 to 25 minutes once the vehicle is in the bay. Wait time varies, and an appointment shortens it.
What if my car fails?
You get a report showing why, and the failed test is $49.75 (no certificate is issued). If we do the repair, the re-test is free. If it failed only because the readiness monitors weren't complete, drive it and come back for a free re-test. If you or another shop do the repairs, the re-test is charged.
How much is a smog check?
$58 for a standard gasoline or hybrid vehicle, certificate included. STAR and test-only smogs are the same price. Diesel smogs are $110. Vehicles where an engine doghouse or access panel must be removed to run the test are the standard price plus 0.5 hour labor.
What's a VSSI and do I need one?
It replaced the brake and lamp inspection. You need it for salvage or rebuilt titles and some DMV referrals. We're a licensed VSSI station. Cars are $295, and plan to leave the vehicle for the day.
